Melissa joined a civil disobedience action to call for comprehensive immigration reform this afternoon. The event was organized by the New York Immigration Coalition, and was also joined by Assemblyman Adriano Espaillat as well as a number of leaders from the labor and faith communities.
Today’s action was the second of three such events in New York City, and is part of a national escalation on the part of immigrants and community leaders to push for the passage of immigration reform legislation this year.
