Blanket and Coat Drive to End Tuesday Afternoon + Weekend Volunteer Opportunities

Thank you all for your incredible generosity! We’ve already collected dozens of coats and blankets for those affected by Hurricane Sandy. We will be suspending the drive beginning Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 pm. For information on where to leave additional donations after Tuesday, please contact New York Cares. If you are still interested in donating, please note that we are closed on Saturday and Monday for the Veteran’s Day Holiday and will re-open at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday.

We would also like to share information on volunteer opportunities being sponsored this weekend by the New York City Council. They are open to everyone, but please make sure to RSVP to sandyrelief@council.nyc.gov with your name, cell phone number and which day you would like to participate.

Saturday, November 10th, Sunday November 11th and Monday, November 12th
Buses will be leaving daily at 10 am from 250 Broadway (between Murray St. and Park Place in Lower Manhattan) across from City Hall.  These buses will be going to some combination of hard hit areas in Brooklyn and/or Queens. Please look for the Gray Line New York double-decker buses. Volunteers should dress warmly, be prepared to get dirty/wet, and bring a lunch with you.
