This Thursday: A Big Day for Participatory Budgeting in Our District and Citywide

This Thursday, we will launch Year Two of our Participatory Budgeting process in Council District 8 with a special Neighborhood Assembly geared to our seniors. The assembly will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 20th at SCAN LaGuardia (307 E. 116th Street). We hope to see you there or at one of our six other assemblies planned over the next month.

That same evening, the citywide Participatory Budgeting NYC initiative will hold a special launch party for Year 2 of the PB process, which will include raffles, refreshments, music and great company from the eight districts across our city now participating in PB. The launch party will be held at Pratt Manhattan (144 West 14th Street, between 6th and 7th Avenues).

And if you can stop by a bit earlier, the Urban Justice Center will release its report on the first year of the PB process in the four pilot Council districts (including ours) at 3:30 pm, also at Pratt Manhattan. Join UJC for a briefing on the report to learn how PB helped engage communities that have been historically disenfranchised by offering a new exciting vehicle for political participation.

Stay tuned for more PB updates throughout the process!
