Tonight: The Police Reform Organizing Project presents “Mothers Speaking Out”

In honor of Mother’s Day, the Police Reform Organizing Project will hold a forum of Mothers Speaking Out Against Harassment of Their Children by NYPD.

The forum will be moderated by Brooklyn State Senator Velmanette Montgomery and will include Sanayi Beckles, Leader of Families for Fair Policing; Aisha Jordan, Poet, Performer and Youth Educator at Brotherhood-Sister Sol; Maxine King, Co-founder of Families Against Stop and Frisk; Tomasina Riddick, Co-founder of the Black Law Enforcement Alliance; and Milta Vega-Cardona, Organizer and Trainer with the People’s Institute for Survival and Beyond.

The event will take place from 6-8 PM at the LGBT Community Center, 208 West 13th Street.

  1. It is so unfortunate that we can not live in a ftsuriutic society and enjoy the 21st century. My belief is that Harlem Tavern is setting itself up for litigation when some young lady who may have had a little too much to drink is sexually malled in one of the unisex bathrooms by perhaps a guy who had too much to drink. The style and atmosphere is beautiful but let’s be real, is Harlem Tavern in denial that they are opening a restaurant on the corner of 116th Street and Lenox Avenue. Again, I am happy to have a new fresh outdoor restaurant in the neighborhood BUT
