City Council Responds to Recent Sexual Assaults with Public Safety Meeting and Self-Defense Class

As you may have seen in this week’s papers, there have been a series of groping attacks on women in Manhattan by the same man in recent weeks.  In response to these incidents and also because April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, the City Council has organized a series of events to discuss the recent attacks and how residents can protect themselves against assault.  Please join us for these important events.
Public Safety Community Meeting
Monday, April 16th, 2012 at 8:00 am
Council Chambers, City Hall
Program: Get updates on these crimes, hear from advocates and experts on how best to protect yourself and why groping is a serious crime. Presenters include the NYPD Special Victims Unit, NYC Alliance Against Sexual Assault and the Center for Anti-Violence Education.
Self-Defense Class 
Hosted by Hunter College, the NYC Council and the Center for Anti-Violence Education
