Join Us at ‘El Apagón/The Blackout’ (Presented by Pregones Theater and the Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre)

Please join us on Friday, August 20th at 12:30 p.m. for a performance of El Apagón/The Blackout by Pregones Theater and the Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre at the 103rd Street Garden (between Lexington and Park Avenues).  The event is sponsored by our office, in collaboration with the New York Restoration Project.

The Blackout is a Pregones’ much-acclaimed theatrical adaptation of the story “The Night We Became People Again” by José Luis González, performed in Spanish and English, and set to the beat of popular Latin songs from the 1950’s and 60’s. While Riding the New York subway uptown from Brooklyn to El Barrio, and eager to witness the birth of his firstborn, a Puerto Rican factory worker and his best friend Trompoloco are caught in the Great Northeastern Blackout.
