Uptown New Yorkers: Get Free Tax Assistance + Don’t Miss Out on the EITC!

Congressman Charles Rangel’s office has compiled a list of free tax preparation assistance sites in the 15th congressional district (which encompasses much of Melissa’s City Council district). The list can be found below.

He and other uptown elected officials, including Melissa, have also joined forces to urge New Yorkers to apply for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). You may be eligible for the EITC if you earn less than $49,000, and the credit could be worth up to $5,600. Approximately 20,000 eligible Upper Manhattan residents miss out on the EITC each year.

Don’t be one of them! Visit one of these locations below to check your EITC eligibility and get assistance with your taxes.

Keep in mind that some of these sites have income restrictions, and require a Social Security card or ITIN letter for all names on the return, including dependents.
